Coat of arms

Vega coat of armsThe coat-of-arms is from modern times. They were granted on 20 November 1987. The arms show a gold-coloured bailer for a boat on a red background.

A bailer was the essential tool in a boat and important to the municipality due to its dependence on the sea. An earlier suggestion for the Vega coat-of-arms picturing the black silhouette of a sailing boat on a yellow background is now used as the coat-of-arms of Nordland county. The design was made by the local painter Tore Engen in 1987. Pins with the municipal coat-of-arms can be purchased for NOK 50, - at the reception desk in the community hall.
