The municipality delivers welfare services to its inhabitants, such as health services, care of elderly, nursery schools and basic education of the population.
Vega is situated in the County of Nordland in the Northern part of Norway. Gladstad is the administrative and shopping centre of the municipality and is situated 3 km from the quay of the express boat at Rørøy and 11 km from the ferry landing at Igerøy. Vega has approximately 1.260 inhabitants.
